Count the dots and write the number in the box.
If the number is already in the box, color in that many dots.
In the examples you see both directions.
Example
What does this exercise practice?
This exercise trains the quick grasp of small quantities without counting each dot one by one, and in the other direction connecting a number with the matching quantity.
Common pitfalls
Many children count every dot one by one at first. That is normal, recognizing patterns in blocks of 5 comes with time. Playing dice games at home helps.
How to practice at home
When playing board games like Ludo or Yahtzee, let them spot the dice pips in a flash without counting. This trains quantity recognition along the way.
