Fruit bell

First see which kinds of fruit are lying there at all.
Then add up each kind on its own - first all the strawberries, then all the bananas.
The bell only rings if there are exactly 5 of one kind.

Example

For parents

What does this exercise practice?

The fruit bell practises bundling to 5 and sorting by feature - both at once, under time pressure as in the real game.

Common pitfalls

A common mistake is adding up all the fruit together. But each kind counts on its own.

How to practice at home

Use real fruit or playing cards to build bundles of five and say out loud which kind has reached 5.
