Number search picture

Look for only one number at a time and go line by line.
Circle every hit so you do not count one twice.
For the second box add the hits together: four twos are 2 + 2 + 2 + 2, so 8.

Example

  • 3, 6, 4, 12
  • 3, 12, 4, 20
  • 3, 6, 3, 12

For parents

What does this exercise practice?

The search picture links careful counting with repeatedly adding the same number - the first step towards multiplication.

Common pitfalls

Without circling it is easy to count twice or miss a hit. Going line by line helps more than searching fast.

How to practice at home

Find and circle all the threes on a newspaper page - and then add them up.
