Adding up dice

Count the dots on the dice and add them up.
Each die shows a number of dots from 1 to 6.

Example: Three dice show 4, 5 and 6 dots.
4 + 5 + 6 = 15

Tip: First add two dice together, then add the third one.
4 + 5 = 9, and 9 + 6 = 15.
The numbers filled in show the solution.

Example

++= 15
++= 13

For parents

What does this exercise practice?

Recognize dice values and confidently add several numbers.

Common pitfalls

When adding three numbers, one die is easily forgotten. Tap each die once as you count.

How to practice at home

Play with real dice: roll three dice and add up the dots as fast as you can.
