Sharing fairly means: splitting an amount into two equal halves.
Both get exactly the same, nobody gets more and nobody gets less.
Example: 14 stars are shared fairly between two.
14 : 2 = 7, so each one gets 7 stars.
Tip: sharing fairly is the same as halving.
Count the stars and split them into two equal groups.
The numbers filled in show the solution.
Example
For parents
What does this exercise practice?
Share an even number fairly between two (halving).
Common pitfalls
Some children share unevenly. Saying it out loud helps: one for you, one for me, until nothing is left.
How to practice at home
Share candy or building blocks fairly between two people at home and count whether both have the same.
