In the spider wheel there is a number in the middle.
On every spoke there is a second number.
Calculate from the middle outward and write the result in the outer field.
Example: in the middle is 22, on one spoke is 15.
You work out 22 + 15 = 37, so 37 goes into the outer field.
On another spoke is 12, then you work out 22 + 12 = 34.
That way you work your way around the whole spider.

Common pitfalls
Some children add the spoke numbers to each other instead of adding each one to the middle. Say it out loud: middle plus spoke.
How to practice at home
Put a coin in the middle and four coins around it. Say a starting number and add each outer number to it in turn.
