A shape is symmetrical when one half is the mirror image of the other.
The line down the middle is called the line of symmetry.
Here is how you do it:
Look at the left half.
Color the same squares on the right, exactly as far from the line.
What is 2 squares from the line on the left is also 2 squares away on the right.
Example: With a vertical line of symmetry, you mirror each square from the left side over to the right.

How to practice at home
Fold a painted sheet of paper down the middle. Whatever lines up exactly is symmetrical. Holding a mirror on the center line also shows the reflection.
