Every number can be split into two parts.
With big numbers, place value helps you.
Example: 347 = 300 + 47
347 is split into the hundreds (300) and the rest (47).
Sometimes the front part is missing, sometimes the back part, find the numbers!

Common pitfalls
Children often forget a place value in the rest: 347 is 300 + 47, not 300 + 4 or 300 + 7. Both parts together must add up to the whole number again.
