When comparing, you look at which number is bigger.
There are three signs for this: smaller (<), bigger (>) and equal (=).
The open end of the sign always points to the bigger number.
Example: 342 < 423
342 is smaller than 423, so the point aims at the 342.
Tip: For three-digit numbers, compare the hundreds first.
If the hundreds are equal, the tens decide, then the ones.
