A counting-hits table shows a row of numbers in a grid.
Count on in steps and mark every number you land on.
Example: Counting in 2s from 301, you hit 302, 304, 306, ...
These numbers get a cross. Counting in 5s from 301, you hit 305, 310, 315, ...
These numbers get a circle.
Tip: Some numbers you hit with both counting steps. Those get a circle around a cross.
Example
- Cross (×2): 302, 304, 306, 308, 310, 312, 314
- Circle (×5): 305, 310, 315
- Both marks: 310

Continue number rows in different steps and recognize common multiples, without using the term 'divisible by'.
Common pitfalls
Children sometimes count the starting number itself, or lose track while counting on. On the grid it helps to mark each hit right away instead of counting at the end.
