This exercise trains logical thinking and calculation skill: children learn to keep several conditions in mind at once and try things out purposefully.
Common pitfalls
Children often insert the first fitting number without checking the other conditions. Help them recheck every row and column right after filling it in.
How to practice at home
Draw an empty 3x3 grid on paper and fill in numbers together. Who can make a row that adds up the same everywhere? The search itself is a calculation experience.
