Number Sequences

In a number sequence it always continues in the same step.
First find the step, then you just keep counting on.

Example: 125, 135, 145, ...
Here 10 is added each time, so the next number is 155.

A sequence can also go in steps of 100 or backward.
Example: 847, 747, 647, ... (100 less each time).
The numbers filled in show the solution.

125135145155

For parents

What does this exercise practice?

Practise counting on steadily in steps of 10 and 100 up to 1000.

Common pitfalls

Children often forget to check the step. Say it out loud: from 125 to 135 is 10, so it continues in steps of 10.

How to practice at home

Count together from a starting number in steps of 10 or 100, forward and backward. Whoever gets stuck first has lost.
