With written multiplication, you calculate digit by digit, from right to left.
Here is how you do it:
1. First multiply the ones. Write down the ones digit of the result.
2. If the partial result is bigger than 9, a carry goes into the small box of the next column.
3. Then multiply the tens and add the carry. For three-digit numbers, the hundreds follow.
