Bundling up to 1000

10 ones make 1 ten. 10 tens make 1 hundred.
H stands for hundreds, T for tens, O for ones.

Example: 2 H, 13 T and 14 O
10 ones become 1 ten, 4 ones are left. Now there are 14 tens.
10 tens become 1 hundred, 4 tens are left.
So 3 H, 4 T and 4 O, that is 344.

Example

2 H, 13 T and 14 O =344
2 H, 12 T and 16 O =336
5 H, 10 T and 11 O =611
1 H, 25 T and 7 O =357

For parents

What does this exercise practice?

Bundle ones into tens and tens into hundreds and name the number up to 1000 correctly.

Common pitfalls

Bundling the tens first misses the ten that comes from the ones. Always start on the right, with the ones.

How to practice at home

Play with coins, trade pennies, dimes and dollar bills and count how many cents there are.
