What does this exercise practice?
Jumping around a big number in steps of ten thousands, thousands and hundred thousands while keeping an eye on the place value.
Common pitfalls
Do not mix up left and right. Less means backward, more means forward. With steps of 10,000 the ten-thousands digit changes, and sometimes the hundred-thousands digit flips too.
How to practice at home
Say a big number and work out together ten thousand less, ten thousand more, a thousand less and a thousand more.
